Dear Hunter,

My father's career in the United States Senate spanned nearly five
decades. He was known as a legislator's legislator and master of
bipartisan compromise. This March, his dream of a non-partisan institute
that pays tribute to the Senate while inspiring a more active citizenry
will become a reality. The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United
States Senate is dedicated to educating the public about our government,
invigorating public discourse and encouraging participatory democracy.

One of our top priorities is to engage middle and high school students to
enhance their understanding of representative democracy and the
legislative process. Our one-of-a-kind Senate Immersion Module (SIM)
promises to be an exciting opportunity to gain an active appreciation of
how our government works by exploring current issues of national interest
and historic debates from the Senate's past. The Institute will provide
curriculum materials to teachers to prepare their students for the
experience, which will culminate in a field trip where students will
participate in a SIM in the Institute's full-scale representation of the
United States Senate Chamber.

Our goal is to offer this experience free of charge to all school groups.
We cannot do this alone; a free access program must be paid for by
generous donations from friends like you.

This December our ask is simple, please give generously to support our
efforts to provide free field trips to thousands of students. Your gift of
$100, $500 or $1000 will go directly to this cause.

We hope to raise $227,000 by the end of 2014 - $1,000 for each year since
the Senate, the institution my father loved so much, was established in
the Constitution.

Your gift is fully tax-deductible and your generosity will help realize my
father's vision of educating future generations about the power of civic
engagement.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing you at the Institute in 2015.
