Content: TEXT/PLAINDear Catholic Charities President’s Council Members,
I wanted to take a quick moment and update you on our pr
ogress for Catholic Charities Day taking place in just ov
er 10 weeks. First, I want to thank all of you who have
volunteered to help us with in your parish for Catholic C
harities weekend of November 15 and 16 to be dedicated as
Catholic Charities Day. The response has been good, how
ever we can still use more assistance in making our weeke
nd a huge success throughout the Archdiocese.
As a rem
inder of what Catholic Charities weekend will entail, we
will have the opportunity to speak for just a few minutes
at every single Mass at every parish in the Archdiocese
of Washington! The goal of the weekend is to engage our m
ost important group of support -- Catholics in the pews.
You probably know as well as I do that while many people
say they like Catholic Charities, very few truly understa
nd the scope of our work and just how critical our work i
s to the region.
Our draft speech is complete and ther
e is a place to add a paragraph about the parish’s serv
ice efforts or for the speaker to share their personal ex
perience of helping others. Our online speaker training i
s close to being launched for you to view at your conveni
ence. The video is hosted by broadcast legend Johnny Hol
liday, and we kept it to just five minutes. And as I men
tioned previously, if someone would need in-person traini
ng, our Communications staff can provide that for you. A
new agency brochure is also in the final stages of being
created to be distributed at each mass to reinforce your
message.

etting involved as a coordinator at your parish or even o
ne nearby!
