Dear Elements /BKP,
We are off to a great start. First of all big thanks to each of you for gett
ing your kiddos to the park by 4:28 - It was record breaking and meant that
we had the full hour for fun.
Here's a review of DAY #1:
ELEMENTS 101- Review of Elements RULES; (1) Never wander off alone and
always listen to your instincts. 2) Be respectful of your peers, the
crew, the other park users and the LAND 3) Never do anything that could enda
nger you or someone else 4) Always wear your name tag - it has p
arent contact and pertinent medical info.CREW INTRODUCTIONS TERRAIN 10
1; We split into small groups (by grade) Each group explored and beca
me familiar with the park through playing games, learning the safest way to
walk down stream, cross fallen trees and how to run on rooty, rocky, slipper
y trails. . . . ELEMENTS OBSTACLE COURSE AND FASHION SHOW; We ga
thered again to practice what we'd preached on the Obstacle Course with the
final runners racing the red carpet , model ling 'what to wear in snow, rain
and what not to wear". The day concluded with Peppermint Patties, cle
mentines and a review of our Elements award.THE ELEMENTS EXTREME AWARD; ?
?for the participant that makes it to every session no matter how much hom
ework they have or how grim the weather may be. I explained that if th
ey are protected from the weather and can run around for 1 hour - they will
be much more focused and efficient with their work. (Obviously - they
should not come if they are ill/contagious or if the weather is so extreme
that we cancel!)
Speaking of weather - the forecast for Thursday is for sun in the afte
rnoon. Nonetheless - with al the ice/snow/rain - we may have a b
it of a mud wallow but it should be fine/fun for Shelter Building.
Please let me know (e-mail, text or call) if your child is unable to a
ttend so that we can make crew arrangements, plan groups accordingly and so
that we are not waiting at the top of the hill..
Thank you for sharing your kids with us and please provide feedback and ques
tions. They are a great group!
Bundle Up!
